Weiming Yuan

The Forms of Flow

This series is composed of the Rockscapes and Cave Lights. At a rocky beach, Weiming Yuan explores the various ways of observing the surfaces of rocks. Starting with a realistic view, he gradually shifts his attention to the hidden visual world within the surface patterns. Sometimes the images reveal a spirit of traditional Chinese landscape painting, and in other cases, just pure abstract expression. In these images, the sense of scale and reality disappear; what appear are individual views filled with infinite imagination.
The Cave Lights are a subsequent series taken in the United States’ Antelope Canyon in Arizona.
