25 February – 22 March 2025
Curated by KLV Art Projects
Chapelle Sainte Anne, Arles
In co-production with the city of Arles
Ethiopia is characterized by a diversity of religions, ethnicities, and languages, with a history dating back to biblical times. Christine Turnauer travelled to Ethiopia to explore its origins and photograph deeply religious people. The impressive black-and-white images reveal the photographer’s profound interest in the spiritual lives of those she portrays. Sensitivity as well as mutual trust and respect are important prerequisites for this. Christine Turnauer is a seeker of meaning who looks at the human condition without reservation.
Her solo exhibition at the Chapelle Sainte Anne in Arles curated by KLV Art in partnership with the City of Arles will run from 25 February to 22 March 2025. Her book on this series was published by Klaus Kehrer in 2024 under the name Biblical Faces of Ehiopia.
